Farmer Direct Lot - Buze Besha - Farmer Direct Lot - Sidama Bensa Dembi - Washed G1 Ethiopian Specialty Coffee - 5lbs

Let us introduce you to a remarkable farmer, Buze Beshu, a woman of determination and strength who calls the village of Bensa Dembi her home. Buze stands as a testament to the power of women in agriculture, proudly nurturing her land alongside her husband and five children.

Over the past twenty years, Buze and her husband have managed their 4.5-hectare family farm, gaining a reputation for producing top-quality, organic G1 coffee. Buze takes a hands-on approach, personally overseeing the processing of harvested cherries on the farm, adhering to a careful process that ensures the finest quality beans.

Buze's meticulous processing method starts by picking cherries at their peak ripeness. She employs simple but effective techniques like sorting cherries in a floatation tank to remove unripe ones. The cherries' pulp is removed and fermented in a water tank for 24 to 72 hours. After fermentation, the beans are sun-dried for a few weeks, and the final step involves dehulling to remove the parchment layer.
A remarkable aspect of Buze's journey is her close collaboration with our exporting partner Heleph, a respected Ethiopian Coffee Export company. Focused on promoting traceability and excellence in coffee, Heleph has been instrumental in enhancing Buze's coffee quality and bolstering her family's well-being through improved sales.
Moreover, Buze's collaboration extends even further, reaching across continents. By teaming up with our company, Finest Beans, which imports exceptional coffees to Canada, Buze's hard work and commitment have the chance to be savoured by discerning Canadian coffee lovers. This collaboration links local farming efforts in Ethiopia to the appreciative coffee enthusiasts in Canada, underlining the truly global journey that a single cup of coffee can undertake.

Buze Beshu's narrative shines a spotlight on the resilience, capability, and impact of women in agriculture. Her story not only embodies the spirit of her community but also showcases the vital role that women play in shaping the world of coffee farming.
